legal seminar on Chinese enterprises investment and financing to Asia countries successfully held

On May 23, 2017, Shanghai Listed Companies Association, Shanghai Equity Investment Association, Shanghai International Services Trade  Association, Jin Mao Partners and Shanghai University of Politics and Law jointly organized the legal seminar on Chinese enterprises investment and financing to Asia countries in Shanghai.

Li Fei, deputy secretary general of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Professor Li Changdao, former director of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government Consultation Committee, delivered video speeches respectively. Zhou Hanmin, a member of Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, and vice chairman of the CPPCC, Shanghai Committee delivered a keynote speech. Zhang Ning, deputy director of the Economic Committee and the member of Standing Committee of CPPCC, Shanghai Committee, Lv Nanting, secretary of its politics and law committee of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Huangpu District, Qian Heng, secretary of the Shanghai Listed Company Association,  Liu Xiaohong, President of Shanghai University of Politics and Law, vice chairman of International Chamber of Commerce arbitration and alternative dispute resolution committee, Wang Guoxing, Vice President of Jinjiang International Group, Liu Hui, Director of the Bureau of Justice of Huangpu District, Ma Yi, Deputy Director and Secretary General of Shanghai International Arbitration Center, Huen Wong, Former President of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, Wu Genbao, vice president of Shanghai International Services Trade Association, Xu Jinglin, Shanghai Municipal People's Government Counselor and nearly 100 Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs, financiers and legal practitioners attended the seminar.

Li Fei, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law, delivered a video speech. Zhou Hanmin, a member of Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, and vice chairman of the CPPCC, Shanghai Committee, pointed out in his keynote speech that President Xi Jinping advocated the peaceful cooperation, open tolerance, mutual understanding, mutual benefit and win-win as the core of the spirit of the Silk Road, which required the work-together to promote Belt and Road in a stable and sustainable way. The Belt and Road shall be a road of peace, a road of prosperity, a road of opening, a road of innovation and a road of civilization. President Xi not only raise the issue of what is the spirit of Silk Road, or summed up the spirit of Belt and Road in its future construction, but also made a commitment by China to do Ten major events on a historical and realistic dimensions, which reflected the historical responsibility to be the Belt and Road Concept initiator. Zhou Hanmin made a wonderful keynote speech around the international cooperation summit of Belt and Road as well as the main focus of the Chinese enterprises "going out" strategy and related legal issues.

Ma Yi, Deputy Director and Secretary General of Shanghai International Arbitration Center; Huen Wong, Former President of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and Hong Kong International Arbitration Center; Jack Li, Arbitrator of Asian International Arbitration Center, Founding Partner of Jin Mao Partners; and Malaysian Lawyer Junne Fan shared their minds concerning the latest development of dispute resolution mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region, overseas financing and investment, legal risk prevention of mergers, acquisitions, and financing by the Chinese enterprises in Asia, and China enterprises investment in Malaysia.

Experts pointed out that the Asian countries have huge impact in the global landscape and have huge effect in the development of Belt and Road Initiative. In the new concept new ideas and new strategies of Xi’s governance, the investment of Chinese enterprises to Asia is unstoppable. Notwithstanding the variety of legal risks in the process of going out by China's enterprises, a complete and efficient prevention mechanism is able to escort them. Encountering with legal risks, countries, industry associations and enterprises should become important participants in the construction of risk prevention mechanism, and Chinese and foreign legal professionals should work together to create a coordinated legal services community.

The opening ceremony of the One Belt One Road Legal and Service Center Singapore station and the Vietnamese station as well as the representative office of Jin Mao Partners and the Education Research and Academic Practice Centre of the Shanghai University of Politics and Law was held at the event.

It is reported that this seminar is another chapter following legal seminar of Chinese enterprises investment and financing in Japan and Chinese enterprises investment and financing in USA and Chinese enterprises investment and financing in Europe respectively held in May 2016, November 2016, and March 2017, which is another professional legal seminar held jointly by professional legal service entities, industry associations and college focusing on legal risk prevention of Chinese enterprises "going out" investment and financing.
